Community Events

Volunteers are always needed at many of these events. Please contact event coordinators to volunteer!

Weekapaug Green Initiatives

Weekapaug Green was founded in 2007 to raise awareness of our community’s natural coastal environment and the impacts of climate change. WG offers opportunities to learn about actions we can take to protect and preserve our environment and health. WG also helped establish the WFC Organic Community Garden located on Noyes Neck Farm. We are an volunteer organization. Over the years WG has offered presentations on topics such as the impact of lawn fertilizers on pond health, the environmental and health impacts of plastics, the importance of bees and other pollinators, the impact of climate change and sea level rise, the need for sustainability in “local” fisheries, and the importance of using native plants rather than invasive plants. Other events sponsored have been a spring community clean up, walking tours identifying local native plants and environmental book discussions. WG Stewards: Julia Bradford, Susie Coleman, Susan DiLoreto, Mary Goodman, Sally Gordon, Linda Griffin, Gale Hunt, Brooke Kinney, Maura Legare, Kelly Markey, Carole Maynard, Briana O’Haver, Margaret Phillips, Stephanie Raia, Amy Randall, Jill Shiel. The Beach Bake is truly a community effort with many volunteers helping out. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Susan Coleman.

The Sand Sculpture and Boogie Board Contest is held on Fenway beach on a Saturday morning in July and August. The morning begins with the Sand Sculpture contest along the Fenway beach and later the boogie board contest.  Volunteers judge the sand sculptures and boogie boarding and many award categories are presented at the end of the event around the lifeguard stand.

Please see the Community Calendar for the dates of this event in July and August.

Annual Art Show

The Weekapaug Annual Art Show is an opportunity for Weekapaug Artists to display and sell their work. Weekapaug artists of all ages are encouraged to participate. The Art Show is usually held in August at the Weekapaug Yacht club. For more information please contact co-chairs Britt Bair or Mary Doherty.

Women of Weekapaug (WOW)

The women of Weekapaug party began in 2008. Women of all ages are invited from age 21 and up. The location of the party changes each year as people offer their homes for the party. Please check the community calendar for the date and time of this event.

Nat Earle Walk/Run

The Nat Earle Walk/Run is held every year around July 4th at the Weekapaug Yacht Club.  The run began in 2003 as a way to commemorate Nat and his love and contributions to the Weekapaug Yacht Club.  Nat learned to sail, to race, and later became the head sailing instructor at WYC.  As an adult, he was an active volunteer, was Commodore and on the Board of WYC.

The donations in memory of Nat and the proceeds from the Walk/Run support the Junior Sailing Program and have been used to purchase boats in the past enabling young sailors to participate in the WYC program.

Please see the Community Calendar for start time and details.
