Public Works

Fire District property including buildings, roads, boardwalks to beaches, water systems for beaches, and trash removal from public areas is the responsibilities of the public works department.  Summer work crews are hired for these duties, while independent contractors are used as needed.

Town roads are maintained by the town of Westerly.  Approximately three miles of District owned roads are maintained by the Public Works department.  Speed bumps are placed in regular intervals on District roads to slow traffic for safety.  The general upkeep of the area roadsides is jointly provided by Public Works and property owners.
